Vermont is home to thousands of brave men and women who have served — and who continue to serve — in our nation’s Armed Forces. These brave citizens are part of a matchless legacy of sacrifice that our small state has laid on the altar of freedom. We all have the august responsibility to ensure that our uniformed personnel are honored and supported. As a veteran and a Seabee in the United States Navy Reserves, I understand the needs of our servicemen and servicewomen. I urge our state government to ensure that every Vermont veteran has the care and benefits he or she has earned, and that our National Guard remains in a state of unparalleled readiness, able to overcome any threat to these Green Mountains.
